Mobility Equipment Rental Liability Waiver & Release Policy

PAYMENT CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT

By submitting payment, renting, or using any equipment from E-MILE: The Electric Ride, the renter acknowledges and agrees to the terms of this Liability Waiver, Release of Claims, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnification Agreement.

Payment for the rental of any electric wheelchair, mobility scooter, or standard wheelchair constitutes the renter’s full acceptance of this waiver and all associated terms.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK

The renter understands that operating mobility equipment involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Collisions with pedestrians or property
• Loss of balance or tipping
• Equipment malfunction
• Operator error
• Injury to the renter or third parties

The renter voluntarily assumes all risks associated with the use of rented equipment.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the renter releases and discharges the following parties from any liability:

• E-MILE: The Electric Ride
• AwesomeCon
• LeftField Media
• The Walter E. Washington Convention Center
• Event staff, volunteers, and contractors

This includes any injury, property damage, loss, or claim arising from use of the equipment, including claims alleging negligence.

INDEMNIFICATION

The renter agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless E-MILE: The Electric Ride and event partners from any claims resulting from:

• Operation of the rented equipment
• Injury to bystanders or third parties
• Property damage
• Misuse or reckless operation

SAFE OPERATION REQUIREMENTS

The renter agrees to:

• Operate equipment responsibly
• Yield to pedestrians at all times
• Follow venue rules and staff instructions
• Avoid reckless driving or horseplay
• Not allow unauthorized persons to operate the equipment

E-MILE reserves the right to terminate a rental immediately for unsafe operation.

DAMAGE OR LOSS RESPONSIBILITY

The renter agrees to be financially responsible for:

• Equipment damage
• Theft or loss of equipment
• Damage to property or other persons

Replacement costs may include full retail replacement value.

MEDICAL DISCLAIMER

E-MILE: The Electric Ride is not a medical provider. Equipment is provided strictly for mobility convenience during the event.

GOVERNING LAW

This agreement is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, and any disputes shall be resolved in Washington, DC courts.

FULL WAIVER ACCESS

The full waiver and rental terms are available:

• At the rental counter
• Via QR code
• On the rental receipt
• Upon request from staff

By submitting payment, the renter acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to review the waiver and voluntarily agree to its terms.
